Flower Essences from the Labyrinth

Most Monday mornings, you will find me in the garden with my helpers, Eli & Suzanne. Part of the work we did today way to begin three new flower essences. Here they are gently collecting Hyssop blossoms and floating them on the surface of pure water in a small crystal bowl. We don't touch the flowers with our hands, but carefully collect them one by one using a leaf from the same plant to gently grasp the blossoms. Here is the bowl of tiny Hyssop blossoms sitting in the sunlight. The sunlight helps the flowers to release their soul vibrations into the water. The other essences we prepared today are Vitex and Monkshood.
This photo is of Monkshood flowers. You probably won't see this plant often. It's so exquisitely beautiful, isn't it? And, it's extremely poisonous! If you've ever read any Brother Cadfeal mysteries, you've read about the deadly monkshood.

Could you share with us what you feel these essences resonate for? I always love to hear people's interpretations of the flower essences... each a facet of the whole!

I would love to know this, too! I am very impressed you are working with the monkshood; what would its essence be for?

I have thought of growing monkshood because a) it is beautiful b) maybe, just maybe, the deer would leave it be! I've wondered where to find a supplier, but I don't want to get myself on some kind of Homeland Security watchlist! :-)

So far as I know, no one is making a flower essence of Monkshood - I couldn't find any information written on it. When we approached the plant, and asked (the plant) whether we could make an essence from it, there was a pause and then we received a caution. "With great care" is what we were told. The harvesting of the flowers had a very somber tone to it. We all felt it clearly. I will finish preparing the essence today, and will meditate more with it to see what other information it offers.

I love your blog! beautiful photo's too. I have a question about Hawthorne berries though... do you have any knowledge that you can share with me about tincturing dried hawthorne berries?

Hi Herban Chica, I like to tincture dried Hawthorn berries in 100 proof vodka. I weigh them first, and whatever the weight in ounces is, multiply that by 5 to find the number of liquid ounces you'll use. Now you know what size glass jar you need for the maceration (steeping). I put the dried berries in the blender & grind them a little bit - not to a powder, just enough to break them up some - then add a bit of the vodka & run the blender again for a few seconds. This ensures that you'll get all of the berry residue out of the blender - you don't want to leave any of that treasure behind. Now, pour that into your glass jar, put a little more of your vodka into the blender & swish around to get any Hawthorn residue, then pour that & the rest of the vodka into your jar. Close the jar with a tight fitting lid. Now you need to wait a minimum of 6 weeks for the tincture to be ready. I usually wait 12 or 16 weeks. Every day, or whenever you think of it, you can gently shake the jar to disperse the plant material throughout the liquid. This is a good time to focus your attention on the healing that you are asking the plants to share with you. After the maceration is finished, strain through cheesecloth & store in a clean glass bottle!
