I have long loved the FES flower essences, and have used them personally, as well as with clients (and the animals they live with). And for years, we have offered a limited selection of flower essences through our shop in Lancaster. We are very excited to have the full line of 103 essences now! Stop in and browse through them, referencing the Flower Essence Repertory for deeper insight if you like. And if you can't come to the shop, they are all available through our web site.
Flower Essences are liquid, potentized plant preparations which convey a distinct imprint, or etheric pattern, of a specific flower. FES Essences are made through careful orchestration of the four elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, as well as environmental and astronomical indications. The blossoms are hand-collected at the precise peak of blossom in carefully selected wild habitats or in their biodynamic gardens. They are infused with pure water that is derived from the same habitat as each flower, and made in the open, undisturbed air with the gentle fire of the morning sun.

Let's Make... Fresh Cheese!
Let’s Make
Fresh
Cheese!
Sunday,
April 21, 2013, 2-4pm
In this
class, Susan Hess will teach us to make fresh soft cheese with cow or goat milk
and culture. We will go through the
simple processes of making a fresh cheese like Chevre’ or Fromage Blanc. Unlike cheese that needs to be aged and
carefully tended for months, fresh cheeses are ready to eat with a day and can
be easily incorporated into any kitchen routine using basic kitchen equipment.
This class will be held in the home
kitchen of Herbs from the Labyrinth, 1053 Wheatland Avenue in Lancaster. You will have a chance to explore the
labyrinth garden during the cheese-tasting at the end of the class.
$ 50.00, in advance for the
class. A variety of cheese-making
supplies and books will also be available for purchase after the class.
To register call Radiance, 290-1517,
or stop by the shop at 9 W Grant St, in downtown Lancaster, right across the
cobblestones from Central Market.
Susan Hess is a therapeutic herbalist and
native weed wrangler who resides in northern Chester County, PA. Since 1997

Elements of Magic
Elements of Magic
An introductory course in Reclaiming
Tradition
Using the art of magic, we deepen our vision and focus our will,
empowering ourselves to act in the world.
In the tradition of STARHAWK
& Reclaiming, this class will explore the Elements of Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit as used to
develop the practice of Magic,
Witchcraft, and Goddess Spirituality.
Working through each individual element, students will learn
& refine techniques to include: Creation of Sacred Space, breath-work,
spell-craft, chanting, visualization & trance, and structuring rituals in
an experiential format. We will
learn to sense, shift and move energy.
This is an opportunity to experience deep magic as we learn the skills
on which to build our individual practices.
The concept of the triple soul and its importance in magic will be
introduced. Once aligned, we will open all of our selves to the beauty and love
around us, creating rituals and practices that can transform us and the worlds
about us.
Preparation:
Read the first six chapters of The
Spiral Dance, by Starhawk.
This class is considered the first of the Reclaiming Tradition’s
core classes. Sarah, an initiated
Reclaiming Tradition priestess and teacher, and Beth an eclectic, will
facilitate the class. This course is usually
taught over a period of six weeks; the weekend will be a full, intense and rich
experience. Please be certain that you
can commit to the entire weekend.
When: Friday, 3/22/13 from 6-9:30pm,
Saturday, 3/23 from 10am until 9:30pm, and Sunday, 3/24 from 10am until 3pm
Where: Radiance, 9 W Grant St, Lancaster
(across from Central Market)
Phone
717-290-1517 for more information
Cost: $185 - $155 sliding scale,
includes a copy of The Spiral Dance.
Stop in to
register and pick up your book at Radiance, 9 W Grant St, Lancaster, PA 17603.
We will accept two students who have previously completed Elements to take
the class at no charge – you would be expected to assist with priestessing
responsibilities. Contact Sarah to apply
for one of these positions.
We
try to balance the need to be justly compensated for our labor with our
commitment to make our work available to people of all economic levels. By using a sliding scale, we hope that those
who can afford to do so will pay on the higher end. No one will be excluded
from the class for lack of funds.
Reclaiming is a growing
tradition in our culture today. It is a call from and to the ancient Goddess
and Her immanence. It is a call to know ourselves in all of our parts, so that
we can create the powerful magic that changes all worlds. While we live in a
culture of domination and control, worlds full of desire, beauty, love and
grace surround us and the Craft opens them to us. We honor the cycles of nature, the earth and
the goddesses and gods that live within each of us. Reclaiming is an ever-evolving tradition that
is rooted in Eco-feminism and the Feri Tradition. It is dedicated to personal
empowerment, teaching and unifying spirit and politics.

A Prayer for Brighid at Imbolg
A couple of years ago I was living in a small straw-bale house with a wood stove for heat. Every morning, as I knelt and lit the fire, I prayed to Brighid. Over the course of several weeks, the words settled into themselves. Perhaps She told me what to say...
Brighid, help me light this fire.
Flames of heat are my desire.
Protect this house, keep it safe and warm
To shelter us from wind and storm.
I still use the prayer, though not every day, since I'm not heating with wood. And now I use a variation of it when I give Reiki attunements.
Thank you, Brighid...

Big Bowls of Herbs...
There are lots of things I love about being an herbalist. One of them is blending herbs for teas and cooking blends. Big Bowls of Herbs! The photo is of the batch of Herbalicious that I've just put together this afternoon. A fabulous cooking blend - garlic, oregano, thyme, parsley and more.
And this morning, there was an even Bigger Bowl of Cool It Hot Mama tea, a delicious blend for keeping menopausal women cooler...
